‘Harbinger of Imminent Ruin’ is the second record by Ghent based piano trio Jukwaa and is released on El Negocito Records. The follow-up to their self-titled debut album is an unexpected attack on Belgian’s free- impro scene. While their first album has a more classic piano trio sound, the second one is clearly more rooted in noise, rock ’n’ roll as well as jazz and free impro.
For a heavier sound the trio expanded to a quintet. Otto Kokke (NL) from monster duo Dead Neanderthals plays soprano and bariton saxophone. The partly in Estonia residing Jonas van Den Bossche completes the quintet with his experimental guitar playing.
‘Harbinger of imminent Ruin’ is 37 minute lasting ride with electro-acoustic duos, trios, quartets and exuberant quintet outbursts.
